God, the source of Hope

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
This Week in Sunday School-
2/3s- David and Goliath
Scripture- 1 Samuel 17
Lesson Truth- God is powerful
Aims for the Children- to do at least one of the following during this lesson:
1. Tell who helped David fight the giant
2. Express confidence in god’s care and power
3. Learn a song about David.
4s-K- Holy Living in the Promised Land
Scripture- Joshua 23-24
Bible Truths-
1. By God’s strength, Israel conquered the land.
2. God fulfilled His promise to give Israel the land.
3. Israel was warned not to follow other gods.
4. If Israel worshiped other gods, they would be punished.
5. Joshua told the people to be strong and serve the Lord.
Key Verse- “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
Grades 1-5- Holy Living in the Promised Land

Lesson Goal- Students will learn to obey God wholeheartedly while living in a sinful, idolatrous world.
Lesson Objectives- Students will be able to
1. Describe the successful conquest of Canaan.
2. Explain how God had fulfilled his promise to give Israel the land.
3. Explain why living with the Canaanites was dangerous for Israel
4. Summarize Joshua’s charge to the Israelites.

Children’s Church- Jesus Calms the Storm and Casts out Demons
Scripture- Matthew 8:18; 23-24
Lesson Goal- The student will worship the Son of God who has power over both the natural and the supernatural world.
Bible Truths-
1. Jesus has power over everything.
2. The disciples did not have faith in Jesus’ power.
3. The demons were afraid of Jesus.
Key Verse- “So the men marveled, saying, ‘Who can this be, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” Matthew 8:27
