"He Will Make Your Paths Straight"

Parent’s Corner- October 13, 2019

 

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6

 

May the Lord bless you and your family this week as you rely on Him and lean into Him.  He is faithful, and He can be trusted.  What a wonderful example for your children to see. . . parents who are committed to trusting the Lord in all things.

 

This week in Sunday School. . .

 

2/3s- Hannah

Scripture- 1 Samuel 1

Lesson Truth- God answered Hannah’s prayer.

Aims for the children- to do at least one of the following during this lesson:

1.     Learn a prayer of thanks to God

2.     Identify whom we pray to

3.     Affirm that God hears our prayers

4.     Identify things that we pray for

 

4s-k, 3rd-5th Grade- Jesus Promises Rest

Scripture- Matthew 11:20-30

Principle- Jesus says to take up His yoke and learn from Him.

Ask Your Child- Why is it dangerous to hear about Jesus’ miracles and not repent?

Apply- By taking up Jesus’ yoke and learning from Him.

This Week- As a family, read Matthew 11:20-30

Next Week- Matthew 12:22-37

 

1st-2nd Grade- Jesus Teaches About the Wise Man and the Foolish Man

Scripture- Matthew 7:24-27

Principle- Those who truly obey Christ will be secure when judgment comes.

Ask Your Child- What did Jesus mean by his picture-story by building a house!

Apply- Ask God to help you understand how Jesus and his teachings are like rock

This Week- As a family, read Matthew 7:24-27

Next Week- Matthew 12:22-37

 

Children’s Church- God Judges the Nations at Babel

Scripture- Genesis 11:1-9

Lesson Goal- Students will understand why and how the Lord scattered the people at Babel.

Bible Truths-

1.     All men spoke a common language.

2.     God had commanded men to fill the earth.

3.     Men disobediently settled in the plain of Shinar.

4.     Men planned to show off their own greatness.

5.     God was concerned about man’s growing sinfulness.

6.     God confused their language to limit their sin.

Key Verse- “So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city.” Genesis 11:8
