Cast Your Cares on the Lord

“Cast all of your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”  1 Peter 5:7 ESV

This week, we saw many examples of anxieties that were cast upon the Lord.  David was often alone in his shepherding work, caring for the flock and guarding them against danger and predators.  Abraham and Sarah had waited a very long time for the Lord to give them children.  In his parable, Jesus indicated that people will respond differently to the sowing of God’s Word.  No matter what anxieties we face in our lives, we can trust the Lord to care for us because he loves us.  What a valuable lesson for our children to learn!  No matter what anxieties they may face on any given day, they are always loved and cared for by God!

This week in Sunday School. . .

Children’s Church- Abraham and Sarah Doubt God

Scripture- Genesis 16-18

Lesson Goal- Students will learn that nothing can stop God’s plans.

Bible Truths-

1.     God promised Abraham and Sarah that they would have a son.

2.     Abraham and Sarah thought they were too old to have a baby.

3.     Sarah gave Abraham her servant, Hagar, for another wife.  Hagar had a son named Ishmael.

4.     God fulfilled His promise through Sarah, not Hagar.

Key Verse- “And I will bless her, and also give you a son by her; then I will bless her and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall be from her.” Genesis 17:16

Application-

1.     Trust God’s promises even if they seem impossible.

2.     Be patient for God to fulfill His promises.
