Do Not Fear
Parent’s Corner- April 14, 2019
“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not look anxiously about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
“For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand, who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’” Isaiah 41:10,13 ESV
What are you afraid of today? Injury or illness? Failure or disappointment? Loss or temptation?
What are your children afraid of today? Bullies or inured friendships? Tests or projects? The monster in their closet or the unknown in the future.
Do not fear! Why? Because Jesus said not to. Jesus said he is with us, and he said that we do not need to be afraid. After all. . . he is the “hero” that conquered death itself. He rose from the grave! He died, was risen from the dead, and is with us even now! If that is not the image of a powerful protector, I don’t know what is!
As we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, it is the perfect time to remember that he is still with us, and that he can be the protector of our minds if we let him. What a comforting thought! (Speaking to myself as well). . . Focus on the comforting thought of Jesus’ presence with us instead of the fear that can lurk in our minds. Choosing Jesus is the much better choice!
We will not have regular Sunday School classes next Sunday. We will be celebrating Easter with our church family as a whole body. May the Lord bring joy and peace into your lives as you celebrate His life, His resurrected life, and the new life you can find in Him.
May you find joy in your parenting this week!
