Parent’s Corner- July 14, 2019

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, not sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he mediates day and night.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.  In all that he does, he prospers.”  Psalm 1: 1-3

What a beautiful image. . .  a tree that has been planted next to the source of everything it needs.  Its roots are able to go deep, it is able to grow tall, and is able to flourish and bear fruit.  May the Lord bless your parenting this week and allow your child(ren) to desire to be firmly planted within easy reach of God’s truth, guidance, and wisdom!

2/3s- Adam and Eve- The Story of the First Man and woman

Lesson Truth- People are the most special part of God’s creation.

Aims for the children- to do at least one of the following during this lesson:

1.     Tell who made people

2.     Name the first people God created

3.     Identify themselves as people God made

4s-K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-5th- God Protects Daniel’s Friends

Scripture- Daniel 3

Principle- Believers die to themselves to worship the Lord.

Ask your child- Why did Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego disobey the king?

Apply- By worshiping the Lord as his first priority.

This Week- As a family, read Daniel 3

Next Week- Daniel 4

Children’s Church- God Keeps His Promise to Protect Paul

Scripture- Acts 27

Lesson Goal- The child will trust God to keep His promises.

Bible Truths-

1.     Paul sailed on a ship that was to take him to Rome.

2.     The ship was in a great storm and the crew was afraid.

3.     An angel, sent from God, encouraged Paul not to fear and that all the men would be safe.

4.     God kept His promise and all the men were safe.

Key Verse- “For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’”  Acts 27:23-24
