My God, My God! (Psalm 22.1-15)

Lord, why have You forsaken me
And stand so far away?
I call and You won't answer me
At night or in the day
My God, my God! How long will I wait?
My God, my God! Be not far away
Yet You are holy and enthroned
Upon Your people's praise
And when our fathers called on You
They were not put to shame
But I'm a worm, and not a man
Despised by humankind
All those who see me wag their heads
And none is on my side
From birth I have been cast on You
And even from the womb
My life has been within Your hand
And will be to the tomb
My heart is melted in my chest
My strength is drained away
Yet, even here within the dust
My tongue will strain to pray
