“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the Peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

With our family’s schedules, it is very rare that we are able to sit down and watch a movie together at the same time.  The same goes for sporting events.  We often rely on our DVR or pause button to play “catch up”.  Now that we are in different states, sometimes the time zone is an issue, or perhaps an evening class gets in the way. . . heaven forbid if someone has an evening class on Mondays or Thursdays during football season!  It’s not uncommon to have one or both of my older sons on FaceTime or speaker while watching a game.  A common plea. . . “don’t tell me what happens!”  Keeping that mystery and element of surprise is appropriate for the ending of a movie, or the final quarter of a football game, but we should be free to “spoil the surprise” in Sunday school.  Let me explain. . . it would be very easy for a child to become concerned after today’s Sunday school lesson.  “God punishes sin.  We are sinners.”  What would be the logical conclusion. . . we can all guess what that might be, but we have good news!  Jesus came to pay the cost for our sins!  That is always good news to be shared at any time, especially if one is concerned about dealing with the consequences of his/her sins.  You don’t have to!  Once you have accepted the gift of Jesus, your sins will be forgiven!  That is great news, and news that should be shared freely and often!
