Parent’s Corner- March 12, 2023


“But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.  Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.”

James 1:14-15


Sin is a tough topic to tackle. . . for any age!  Everyone has sinned and fallen short of how God would want us to live.  The good news is . . . God designed a fix for the problem of sin.  Starting next week, we will pause our study of the Old Testament to focus on the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus.  O Happy Day!  We will learn how Jesus took our sins away!  


This week in Sunday school. . . 


2/3s- Mary and Martha

Scripture- Luke 10:38-42

Lesson Truth- Jesus wants us to listen to his words.

Aims for the Children- to do at least one of the following during this lesson:

  1. Give evidence of having listened attentively to today’s Bible story

  2. Identify the good listener in today’s story

  3. Identify the person who needed to learn how to listen

  4. Indicate how Jesus feels when people listen to him


4s-K, 1st-2nd, 3rd-5th- God Reveals Achan’s Sin

Scripture- Joshua 7

Principle- God takes sin seriously.

Ask Your Child- How was God’s holiness revealed in this lesson?

Apply- By being aware of areas where he or she is tempted.

This Week- As a family, read Joshua 7.

Next Week- Joshua 23-24


Children’s Church- God’s Law Brings the Jews to Repentance

Scripture- Nehemiah 8-10

Principle- Respond to God’s Word by turning away from sin and humbly depending on Christ.

Ask Your Child- How did the Israelites respond to Ezra reading God’s Word?

Apply- By repenting from sin and committing to obey God.

This Week- As a family, read Nehemiah 8-10
