Have The Right Perspective

Parent’s Corner- May 14, 2023
“For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities- all things were created through Him and for Him. and He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.”
Colossians 1:16-17
Have you ever looked at the back of a cross stitch once it’s finished? By looking at the back, you will see the knots and overlapping threads, but you won’t see the beauty of the design until you turn it over and look at the front. You need to look at it with the right perspective in order to appreciate it’s true beauty.
In our lesson on the book of Ruth, we can see so many elements that don’t seem to make sense to our eyes. Why did Naomi need to lose her husband and both of her sons? Why did Naomi and Ruth need to experience poverty? Why was there so much tension between the two people groups of Israel and Moab? We have these questions when we look at them through our own eyes. When we understand the beauty of God’s design and see how His faithfulness was showcased throughout the story, it makes much more sense!
It’s the same in our lives today. Individual elements may not make sense, but we can trust that the Lord has a plan and will work all things together for our good and His glory!

2/3s- Over the Wall- The Story of Paul’s Escape in a Basket
Scripture- Acts 9:20-25
Lesson Truth- Jesus took care of Paul when he was in trouble.
Aims for the Children- to do at least one of the following during this lesson:
Tell how Jesus took care of Paul
Express assurance that Jesus always takes care of them
Thank Jesus for his love and care
Sunday School- God’s Sovereignty in the Book of Ruth
Scripture- Ruth 1-4
Principle- Believers are to trust God’s sovereignty and faithfully follow His commands.
Ask Your Child- How did God resolve their problems, and why is it important to us today?
Apply- By trusting that God is sovereign over both good and bad events.
This Week- As a family, read Ruth 1-4
Next Week- Review week
Children’s Church- Satan Tempts Jesus
Scripture- Matthew 4:1-11
Lesson Goal- The student will acknowledge that onlyJesus was righteous enough to take the punishment of their sin.
Bible Truths-
After Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert, Satan tempted Him three times.
God allowed Jesus to be tempted to show His perfection.
Jesus answered Satan’s temptations with Scripture.
Application-
Trust that Jesus forgives the sins of those who repent.
Hate sin as much as Jeus did.
Remember God’s Word when you are tempted.
