Teamwork That Talks
Someone once said, "It is teamwork that enables common men to do uncommon things." Another has said, "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." Both of these quotes are inspiring when it comes to thinking of what can be accomplished by a team. However, neither of them come close to the powerful picture of teamwork given in John 13:34-35.
There Jesus tells his disciples, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
Here Jesus commands his disciples to love one another in the way that he has just loved them. In context, we see that Jesus has just served his disciples by washing their feet. So here Jesus is commanding his disciples to work as a team by loving one another through serving one another. What makes this description of teamwork so powerful is the end result. The end result is that this servant hearted teamwork talks! Jesus says, "By this" (lovingly serving one another) all people will know that you are my disciples." The way we work together as a team has the power to put our faith and the gospel on display for all to see.
Please pray that this Slovenia team live out John 13:34-35 as we plan, fundraise, and travel to Slovenia.
