“And one of the elders said to me, ‘Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.’”

Revelation 5:5 ESV

From this week’s commentary in our lesson material. . .

“When we see a world infested with wickedness, disaster, grief, and pain, it is tempting to give up and abandon hope.  Yet there is one thing that gives hope and strength to press on:  someone is coming to defeat every enemy, punish the wicked, undo the curse, and welcome every faithful believer into a new and perfect world.  We can be sure of this, since Jesus is worthy and able to accomplish God’s perfect plan.”

What an assuring truth!  When we trust Him with our lives, we can find peace in knowing that His plan is perfect, and He is worthy of our trust and praise.

2s/3s- Count the Stars!  The Story of Noah’s Promise to Abraham and Sarah

Scripture- Genesis 12:1-9

Lesson Truth- Abraham listened to God and obeyed.

Aims for the Children- to do at least one of the following during this lesson:

1.     Tell what God asked Abraham to do

2.     Tell how Abraham responded

3.     Demonstrate what it means to listen and obey

4.     Tell how they obey others

5.     Identify the Bible as the book in which God tells us what to do.

Additional Activities-

1.     Children can play a sort of “musical chairs” game.  When music is playing, they are moving along, pretending to move with their animals and belongings.  When the music stops, they need to stop and rest.

2.     Children have fun talking about trips they have taken and items they have packed.  Ask, where would you like to go, and what would you take with you?  Even act out a “trip” from one room to another for a special activity or snack.

4s-5th- John Sees the Worthy Lamb

Scripture- Revelation 5:1-14

Principle- The risen Christ is worthy of all our praise.

Central Truth- Jesus is able to complete God’s perfect plan.

Ask Your Child- How did everyone present respond to the risen Lamb?

Apply- By being eager to tell others about the Lamb who was slain and is now alive.

Key Verse- “And one of the elders said to me, ‘Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.’” Revelation 5:5

This Week- As a family, read Revelation 5:1-14

Next Week- Revelation 19:11-20:15
